What an incredible privilege it was for QL Space to take the stage at COP16Riyadh.

What an incredible privilege it was for QL Space to take the stage at COP16Riyadh to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification hosted in Riyadh with the وزارة البيئة والمياه والزراعة

Being given the platform to present our work on such a global stage has been a major highlight for us. We were proud to have showcased how QL Space’s Earth observation expertise is helping to restore ecosystems and combat desertification:

1️⃣ Mangrove Conservation in Saudi Arabia

We presented on how we are using advanced remote sensing and AI to monitor mangrove health and carbon sequestration efforts, supporting Saudi Arabia’s efforts to protect and enhance these crucial ecosystems.

2️⃣ Water Resources Monitoring

We were honored to contribute to the Water Remote Sensing Workshop, where we highlighted the potential of sp

ace based solutions in Saudi Arabia to enhance sustainable water resource management and resilience.

3️⃣ MEASMA Observatory Workshop

We contributed to discussions on creating a regional satellite observatory to provide real-time data on air quality and atmospheric conditions, paving the way for improved early warning systems and environmental resilience.

It’s not every day you get to see world-changing ideas in action, and Saudi Arabia’s leadership in tackling global environmental challenges was on full display through Saudi Green Initiative, Greening Arabia 2024 and the Middle East Green Initiative – all highlighting the Kingdom’s commitment to combating desertification, restoring ecosystems, and promoting sustainable land use.

A special thanks to Dr. Omar Emam (INTOSPASS – International Outer Space Association) for leading these critical sessions. It was an honor to collaborate with experts from around the world on solutions that harness the power of Earth observation for a sustainable future.
