What a great day at the Australia India Chamber of Commerce (AICC) space roundtable! ๐ฆ๐บ๐ฎ๐ณ
On what was also the submission deadline day for the Australian Space Agencyโs International Space Investment India Projects grant, the event was the perfect platform for Australian and Indian industry leaders and experts to explore the vast opportunities in the space sector and foster collaboration between our two great nations.
Highlights from the day included:
๐ฎ๐ณ A warm welcome from Minister Stephen Dawson which set the tone for an engaging and productive day.
๐ฎ๐ณAndy Koronios of SmartSat CRC provided a comprehensive overview of the Australian market, highlighting the immense potential and advancements in our space industry.
๐ฎ๐ณZaffar Sadiq Mohamed-Ghouse shared valuable insights on the opportunities for collaboration with India, emphasizing the significance of the India-Australia relationship in the realm of space. Mark Thompson from Capricorn Space gave a great overview of the incredible space capabilities that exist here in Western Australia.
๐ฎ๐ณJames Yuen from the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation enlightened us on the cross-sector opportunities in Western Australia, demonstrating the diverse avenues for growth and innovation, an important area that WA is leading the charge in.
๐ฎ๐ณThe panel discussions were enlightening, covering both upstream and downstream opportunities. Our very own Raj Gautam spoke alongside, Nicola Sasanelli AM, and Ram Kuppusamy from Space Angel where they discussed how the space sector should be looking at upstream opportunities.
๐ฎ๐ณEqually important was the discussion on downstream opportunities, featuring Zaffar Sadiq Mohamed-Ghouse, Amy Parker from CSIRO, Tony Wheeler MAICD from the Geospatial Council of Australia and Paula Fievez from FrontierSI. Together, they delved into the potential for collaboration and the value of leveraging each otherโs strengths to drive advancements in downstream space capabilities.
The India-Australia relationship holds immense importance when it comes to space exploration. By nurturing this partnership, we can accelerate technological advancements, share expertise, and unlock countless opportunities for growth and innovation. Collaborative efforts between our two nations will undoubtedly propel the Australian space industry forward and contribute to the global space community.
I extend my sincere gratitude to the Australia India Chamber of Commerce (AICC) and Tully Smith for bringing this event to Perth. Letโs continue to work together to strengthen the India-Australia space relationship!
